Howard & Co., Boston, Series IV, scarce nickel keywind, 15J, N-S (just over 19S), 18K gold original HC with maker’s initials possibly “B S P” (middle initial uncertain due to wear) within shield shaped cameos, gold cuvette, white enamel SS dial, umbrella style hands, KWKS, sunburst pattern nickel damascene, s#41802. Gross weight of assembled watch 83.1 dwt (129.2 g). Howard keywind watches with nickel damascene finish are scarce to rare; the total production of this Series IV version is believed to be approximately 400 made. Mvt: GRO after a sluggish start, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some fine scratches and small abrasions, oxide spots to steelwork of winding and setting escutcheons; dial with patched chipping below seconds-register, some hls surrounding seconds-register; excellent hands, hour and minute are blue, seconds-hand is plum colored; case shows ample wear, mild dent to band near 10, mild ding to upper left of front evident mainly to only interior of lid, engine turning detail is fully lost; tight bow, push shows ample wear; clean plastic crystal.
